Driver's Seat 2025-2026
The Driver’s Seat members of 2025–2026 form a group of 16 young people who come together this season to explore and experience art and culture!
Meet all the members here (through someone else’s eyes):
Joep
Mare about Joep
This is already Joep’s third year at DS. He originally joined after tagging along once during an internship and has been an integral part of the group ever since. Joep isn’t only present at SCHUNCK for DS, he also works as a librarian on the second floor. He does this alongside his studies in Art Education and Design in Maastricht.
Joep boulders his way through life: always active and mainly creative. He has a strong love for experimental art, but can also deeply appreciate expressionist works by Schiele. Joep has a sharp eye for detail and can completely lose himself in the finer elements of a painting. We often see him standing in front of an artwork that is just as vibrant as he is. What caught Joep’s attention most was that the work didn’t seem to be hanging quite level.
Lisa
Anouk about Lisa
This is Lisa’s first year with Driver’s Seat and she’s extremely excited about it. She already gained some experience at SCHUNCK through an internship last year. Lisa studies Event Production at Vista College in Heerlen. What she enjoys most is planning, for example organising a music tasting. She would describe her programme in three words as: chaotic, busy and nice.
Lisa is a real busy bee. At peak times she works at an optician, at festivals, babysits, and to relax she plays badminton in Maasbracht.
As a child, Lisa wanted to become a teacher and stand in front of a classroom. Even though she isn’t studying for that now, this dream might still come true through giving guided tours at SCHUNCK!
Floor
Ewoud about Floor
Floor is 16 and recently joined Driver’s Seat. She wanted more creative people around her and to give her own creativity a boost. She is still in secondary school, but hopes to study Communication and Media Design in the future. Floor is inspired by artist Ai Weiwei, especially by the social themes in his work. She is vegetarian, and her biggest irritation? People who eat noisily.
Jodie
Jasmijn about Jodie
A soul with an eye for everything ‘aesthetic’. Beauty in the small details of life.
Music flows through her life like a constant melody, especially the voices of Jeff Buckley and Lana Del Rey. This music is also a major source of inspiration for her own poetry, which mainly explores love, mental health and family.
Her family is also one of the reasons she chose this artwork. She is proud of her Indo heritage and the artwork touches her in multiple ways.
Maud
Femke about Maud
Maud is 19 and currently studies at the art academy in Maastricht to become a teacher. She enjoys going to parties, spending time with friends or driving around in her car. In her free time she sings and works creatively with drawing, painting, knitting and crocheting. Through classmates Joep and Remy, Maud joined Driver’s Seat. It appealed to her to gain a different perspective on art. So far, she finds DS very cosy and is curious about what they will experience together next.
Jasmijn
Jodie about Jasmijn
If Jasmijn could choose anyone to have a cup of coffee with, it would be David Bowie. He has always been her greatest inspiration and his music helped her through a difficult period in her life. What would she ask him? Which emotions drove him the most. If anyone knew how to turn chaos into something beautiful, it was him.
Art also plays an important role for her. Themes of femininity and feminism resonate deeply with her creativity, which is why she chose the artwork in which she is posing. “The artwork touched something in me about being a woman.” She doesn’t know exactly what it is, but it makes her reflect on how art can help you find light in dark days.
Femke
Maud about Femke
Femke is 16 and currently in her final exam year. She heard about Driver’s Seat through her mother and decided to apply. For her admission to the Interior Advisor programme, she is now working on a creative assignment that she is very enthusiastic about. Femke enjoys making mood boards, with colour playing an important role in her work. She has her own style and combines basics with unique accents that reflect her creativity.
When she looks at art, she becomes curious: what do I see, and what does someone else see? Details in artworks catch her attention, such as in the painting by Hadassah Emmerich, where it is precisely those small elements that appeal to her.
Anouk
Lisa about Anouk
Anouk is 20 years old and is participating in Driver’s Seat for the first time this year. Originally from Venlo, she now lives in Maastricht, which she enjoys because it’s closer to her studies and friends. Anouk is in her third year of the DBKV programme (Art Education and Design). Creativity plays a major role in her life. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and crocheting, bringing her ideas and imagination to life.
She also highly values spending time with friends, which gives her relaxation and energy. Alongside her studies, Anouk works in a clothing shop, where she is often responsible for opening and closing the store. At home, she has pets too: a dog named Bobbie and a cat called Pom.
Mare
Joep about Mare
Mare quite literally walked into Driver’s Seat last year during her internship at SCHUNCK and never left. Mare loves many things, especially art. From classical art to graphic design and mythology, she can fully immerse herself. She also finds modern art very interesting, particularly its individual expression and experimental character. In addition, she loves baking, she also works in a bakery, and enjoys making collages of her travels and experiences.
Eefje
Funs about Eefje
Eefje simply doesn’t have enough hours in a day to experience everything she wants in life. In the time she does have, she is actively working as a maker at the art academy in Maastricht, creating various works that express her own visual language and encourage people to think. Although she doesn’t aim to convince others, she has convinced us that shaping the future lies with her.
Funs
Eefje about Funs
Funs is 23 years old and used to want to become a farmer, but now studies autonomous art at the art academy in Maastricht. Despite never having eaten a mandarin, he creates art with the intention of getting to know himself, a personal why-story. “I create, and what people think is 'egaal' to me.”
If Funs were an animal, he would be a raccoon. Fortunately, he has overcome his former fear of worms and is now fully immersed in making art, knowing this path truly suits him.
So here he is; Youth Prince Funs van de Kwas oet Venlo. Just a few years older now, still just as enthusiastic and even wearing glasses!!!
Noa
Remy about Noa
Noa is 22 years old and can make fantastic balloon animals. This is her first year participating in Driver’s Seat. “I heard many good things about it and wanted to engage with art outside of school.”
Noa stands in front of her favourite artwork from the collection. The woman in the piece is depicted in a way that you don’t often see in the art world.

She also works a lot with photography and illustration. Mare’s favourite artist is Ana Mendieta, although this tends to change almost weekly.

Ewoud
Floor about Ewoud
Ewoud is 20 years old and a familiar face at Driver’s Seat. Through his mother, who works at SCHUNCK, he became involved with Driver’s Seat. This is already his fourth time participating. He has a great passion for art and enjoys making drawings himself, often using his own surroundings as inspiration. Ewoud studies at the art academy in Maastricht and is currently in his second year of the Art Education and Design programme.
He enjoys listening to artists such as David Bowie, Beyoncé and Fleetwood Mac, but strongly dislikes Adele and Taylor Swift.
