Driver’s Seat recap: What did we do this year?

What do you actually do during a year at Driver’s Seat? It’s different every year. From screen printing and museum visits to ECHØ and, ultimately, their own exhibition: a little recap of their year at Driver’s Seat.

The young people get a behind-the-scenes look at the museum, learn how to give tours, work with the SCHUNCK Collection, visit other museums and come up with and organise their own cultural activities.

Behind the scenes at SCHUNCK Museum

So, how does a museum actually work? Driver’s Seat got a behind-the-scenes look and took part in guided tour workshops. The young people learned how to take visitors through the museum and share their own perspective on art.

In the photo with your favourite artwork

During a photoshoot at the museum, each Driver’s Seater chose a favourite artwork from the exhibition Rooted in Change to be photographed with.

Their own Driver’s Seat T-shirts

At Outpoet, the young people tried their hand at screen printing and made their own Driver’s Seat T-shirts.

Frictions Festival

Driver’s Seat also took part in Frictions Festival #11 – De letste sjiech, helping to hand out silent disco headphones to visitors.

Visiting other museums

Getting inspiration outside SCHUNCK is part of the programme too. The group visited the Bonnefanten in Maastricht and travelled to Rotterdam, where they visited Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Kunsthal.

ECHØ with VISTA

Together with students from VISTA KTM, Driver’s Seat took part in ECHØ: an evening of art, music and performance inspired by the exhibition Rooted in Change. The young people put their tour-giving skills into practice and guided visitors through the exhibition.

Curating their own exhibition

Driver’s Seat delved into the SCHUNCK Collection. Looking, choosing, discussing, putting together an exhibition and writing texts for the selected works for the exhibition booklet. This resulted in Untitled, in which the young people present a selection from the collection from their own perspective.

And then… the certificate

After a year of Driver’s Seat, the group wraps up the season together with a certificate ceremony and a BBQ. See you next year!
