Architecture Day 2025

During the Day of Architecture, the theme ‘The Solidary Society’ takes centre stage. At SCHUNCK, a programme will also be organised around this theme, combined with the second edition of the Architecture Café.

June is Architecture Month. In some cities it lasts the entire month, such as in Rotterdam. In others it takes place over a full or half week, such as in Amsterdam. During the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2026, you can explore public spaces, cultural venues, housing cooperatives, commons and places to learn, recover, work or live at locations across the country.

About the Day of Architecture

The Day of Architecture is for anyone interested in architecture and urban development. Since 1986, it has been a nationwide event attracting large numbers of visitors. Many towns and cities open remarkable buildings to the public and organise programmes including lectures, debates, exhibitions, films and excursions. Each city or region gives the programme its own local interpretation.

Theme: The Solidary Society

With the theme ‘The Solidary Society’, the Day of Architecture 2026 focuses on the design of collective places. Sports clubs, community gardens, churches, schools and swimming pools – places where you meet people you did not know before. People who do not have to be your friends, but whom you know you can turn to when you need someone. Because only when you stand up for someone else’s rights, happiness or safety do you know that someone will do the same for you.

Architecture and a Resilient Living Environment

When disaster strikes, we can close our windows and doors and wait by the emergency radio for instructions. Or we can invest now in a resilient living environment: a community of people you can rely on, places where you enjoy coming together, and structures that contribute to equal opportunities and rights. All of these places are designed – by (landscape) architects and urban planners, as well as by communities themselves.

Programme at SCHUNCK

As every year, SCHUNCK will organise an inspiring programme around the theme in 2026, combined with the second edition of the Architecture Café.

The full programme will be announced at a later date. Keep an eye on the SCHUNCK website for updates.
