Art Academy Exhibition: What Silence?
Inspired by Enjoy the Silence: 40 Years of the Museum, students from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Visual Communication department) present new work in De Nieuwe Galerij in Heerlen, based on the SCHUNCK collection.

From collection to new work
For this exhibition, the students explored artists and works from the SCHUNCK collection. From painting and photography to installations and other forms of visual art, the collection served as the starting point for new visual experiments and collaborations.
Working in groups on shared projects, the students drew inspiration from artists such as Marlene Dumas, Rob Scholte, Natasja Kensmil, Stanley Donwood, and Koos Buster. Not only the artworks themselves, but also themes, use of materials, working methods, and personal fascinations formed the basis of their work.

The exhibition can be seen on Friday 12 June and Saturday 13 June 2026 at De Nieuwe Galerij in Heerlen. Admission is free.
