From collection to exhibition

During the programme, participants are introduced to the SCHUNCK art collection and to everything involved in creating an exhibition. From their own perspective, they select works and assign meaning to them. The result is an exhibition in which personal choices and stories come together.

Since 2020, SCHUNCK has regularly organised Curator for a Day. Previous editions have included participants such as residents of Parc Imstenrade care home, the neighbourhood initiative Vrie-Art in Vrieheide, ’PAND, the Friends of SCHUNCK, and Het Genootschap. The project offers Heerlen residents the opportunity to engage with the collection in a different way and to experience the role of curator themselves.
