At Curator for a day, residents of Heerlen, with a little help from SCHUNCK, get to work with art themselves. In fact, they curate their own exhibition.

What can a work of art do for you? And which collection works would you show in an exhibition if you were a curator and why? Armed with these questions, every year a different group of Heerlen residents delves into the SCHUNCK municipal collection. The result is their own collection exhibition. During this project, participants gain more insight into the process of making an exhibition on the one hand, and get to know the collection works (better) on the other. After all, the collection belongs to everyone and certainly to every Heerlen resident.
After editions with residents of residential care complex Parc Imstenrade (2020), art club Vrie-Art from the Heerlen district Vrieheide (2021) and ‘PAND (2023), it is now the turn of Vrienden van SCHUNCK to make an exhibition with works from the SCHUNCK collection. The association Vrienden van SCHUNCK consists of a large group of enthusiastic members who support and want to promote culture and art in the broadest sense of the word. The focus is on architecture and visual arts, but attention is also paid to music, dance & literature.
For this edition of Curator for a day, the twelve participants do so using the municipal SCHUNCK collection.
From 14 June, their exhibition Entrer can be seen in the Aad de Haas gallery of the Glaspaleis (from Tuesday to Sunday).
