On 26 April, between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., we present a special 'recap' edition of Frictions Festival, in collaboration with partners from the past four pilot editions.

Frictions Recap
Frictions will be the beating heart of the evening: a festival formula in which each time, we invite a different cultural entity from Heerlen or the region to curate a unique event in and around the Glaspaleis. It's a celebration of diversity, creativity and connection, letting the voices of local creatives be heard.
Frictions Recap is a special throwback of the past four editions of Frictions Festival. We have put together some highlights and quotes from our collaborations with literature platform PANDA, lhbti+ organisation Queer Parkstad, Outpoet and hip-hop platform Kool Cult. Expect an evening full of music, readings, performances and film.

Programme
Music
On the festive evening there will be a mix of musical talent. In the (almost brand-new) Atrium, Outpoet, in collaboration with the Raising Grounds foundation, presents Hence The Bravery. A band that broke through in the monotonous days of pandemic lockdowns. They mix pop-punk, grunge and other alternative genres. Solid music to inspire you. Phenomenon DJ Dreyaz will give a musical summary of the past four editions of Frictions.
Poetry and film
Het Belangrijke Genootschap, PANDA's talent group for young creators, will share their work in readings with the audience. Come to the first floor of the Glaspaleis and get carried away by the words of these emerging writers. And guess who will also be present again? Audience favourite The Crying Scarf is making a comeback! A film screening will also take place at this location, in collaboration with Queer Parkstad. Don't miss the documentary Verstoten, directed by Claire Slingerland, which tells the story of the homeless rainbow youth in the Netherlands.
Skate jam
We got to know skate collective Loose Ankles through Kool Cult. They return for a new residency. They surprise us with a new ramp and show off their skills in front of the Pancratiuskerk. The photos of Frictions X Kool Cult taken by photographer and skater Miko can be seen at the Glaspaleis.
New exhibitions and performance
During Frictions Recap, four new exhibitions are presented at SCHUNCK. Check out Lizzie Veldkamp's new work as part of Dreaming Out Loud on the first floor. In the art depot you will find a new selection of artworks chosen by Nancy Nijsten on behalf of aid group 'Een hart voor een ander'. And you can view Jean Tinguely's installation Shuttlecock in the Atrium. Last but not least, the special exhibition in two parts by Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze will open. In the store window of the Glaspaleis she presents 'Windows, signs of peace', and in the Pancratiuskerk she shows work by 14 other artists from Ukraine under the title 'What hinders a sermon becomes one'. We will end the evening with a performance by Alevtina Kakhidze in and around the store window.
The pilot editions
In the midst of the exhibition 'In for life: 10 years of David Bade in Heerlen', celebrate Frictions Festival spread over four evenings. Enjoy talks, performances, workshops and music and celebrate diversity, art and community.
