The Brussels-based architect develops a practice that is both independent and collaborative, open to various forms of cooperation and intervention. His research focuses on ordinary, existing places and buildings that shape our everyday environment: from the bourgeois townhouse and suburban villa to the retail gallery and industrial wasteland.
In his work, Gena explores how this existing heritage can be revealed, preserved and adapted to new ways of living together and to a more sustainable use of our environment. Dialogue is an important starting point in his practice. For Gena, architecture emerges through conversation with the people who build, inhabit, use and maintain these places.
In 2016, François Gena received the third prize of the Euregional Architecture Award (EAP).
About Dreaming Out Loud
With Dreaming Out Loud, SCHUNCK regularly invites young architects and artists to create a cabinet presentation. The series offers space for new ideas and perspectives on architecture, art and the built environment.
