MODULE #3 Thierry Jaspart
A small, almost invisible graffiti tag from the streets of Heerlen, now enlarged on the changing wall next to the Glaspaleis. During the third edition of Heerlen’s MODULE, artist Thierry Jaspart presents a new work on the movable panel.

Thierry Jaspart (Eupen, 1986) spreads his work in the streets using posters, stickers and spray paint. Hitchhiking and walking across Europe, he leaves his creations behind in many places, including well-known slogans such as J’EXISTE (“I exist”) and JE SUIS PARTOUT (“I am everywhere”). While many makers use a pseudonym, Jaspart deliberately chooses his own name or a slogan. According to him, graffiti writers may try to make the world more colourful, but at its core it is mainly about “showing that they exist.”
Boe
For MODULE #3, Jaspart searched for local graffiti in Heerlen. After extensive walks through the city, he selected a tag (signature) by a random graffiti writer. He reproduced it as a large-scale blow-up on MODULE, titling it Boe ("Boo"). He documented his actions on video cassette. This video can be seen through the window on a television screen next to the movable wall.
About Thierry Jaspart
Jaspart looks at the world through an absurdist lens and plays with reality. He once attended a school reunion in a Walloon village where he had never actually gone to school, labelled everyday objects on the street with museum-style title cards, and started a band - Chien Chiant - that doesn’t actually release any music. He does this for the fun of it, enjoying the way it creates confusion in other people’s everyday lives. He documents his adventures using analogue cameras and camcorders.
