MODULE #4 Joren Joshua
From June 2026
A quiet landscape, a road bending towards the horizon, or a church spire rising above a hill. For MODULE #4, illustrator Joren Joshua presents new work on the rotating wall next to the Glaspaleis.

Joren Joshua (Eindhoven, 1990) is an illustrator based in Rotterdam. In his work, he depicts everyday situations in which people often take centre stage. Think of a camper waking up in his tent, a dockworker on the quay, or people dancing in a brown bar. His work is inspired by his background in graffiti, where he moved away from traditional lettering at an early stage in favour of focusing on figures. This still forms the foundation of his current visual language.
Recently, Joshua has taken a new direction by creating landscapes without people or figures. As an avid cyclist, he continuously captures his surroundings while riding: a church spire above a hill, a small road slanting towards the horizon, or striking forms in the landscape. For MODULE #4, he explored the mining region around Heerlen, where these observations form the starting point for new work.
About MODULE
Together with Kool Cult and Robin Vermeulen, intendant-curator of public art in Heerlen, SCHUNCK launches a new way of working in public space. The project is part of ArtBase, a national pilot programme aimed at strengthening regional contemporary art.
MODULE is a movable panel measuring 2.5 by 6 metres, on which (semi-)permanent art interventions appear: graffiti, street art, and other forms of independent, temporary visual language — visible in the city without losing its ephemeral character. Each edition features new work by a different artist.
