With Passaasj Parkstad, SCHUNCK Museum opens its doors to the creative talent of the region. Anyone who considers themselves an artist or designer could submit a work through an open call. An independent selection committee then chose the final 100 works from more than 475 entries to be featured in the exhibition.

40 years of the museum

In 2026 it will be forty years since a museum for modern and contemporary art first opened its doors to the public in Heerlen. What started as the Stadsgalerij became SCHUNCK Museum in 2009. For four decades, Heerlen has been home to the museum as well as to countless artists from Heerlen, Parkstad, and Limburg. To emphasise this connection, the theme of this first edition is ‘home’. The works in the exhibition explore what ‘home’ can mean—sometimes very literally, sometimes through unexpected associations.

100 works, 100 artists

Passaasj Parkstad is a new initiative, programmed periodically to provide a platform for the rich imagination of the residents of Heerlen, Parkstad, and Limburg.
