On the last Sunday of every month, you can join a Sunday tour. This architectural tour takes you through the Glaspaleis, the Art Depot and the Atrium, led by a professional guide. Along the way, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the buildings and have the opportunity to engage in conversation with the guide.
Glaspaleis Tour
The Glaspaleis tells the story of the region: Heerlen’s growth, the wealth of the mining industry, the rise of modernist architecture, and the lives of the people who once shopped at Schunck. But it also reflects the closure of the mines and Heerlen’s subsequent decline. With the renovation of the Glaspaleis and the opening of the new SCHUNCK, the city turned a page, closing a dark chapter and embracing a new future.
