This event is part of the program surrounding the exhibition Andy Warhol: Vanitas and offers an in-depth perspective on the theme of transience. Featuring a lecture by grief expert Manu Keirse (1946) and an impressive performance by dancer Bo Jacobs (1999), we explore how art and stories can inspire during times of loss.

Program

The afternoon opens with a performance by dancer and choreographer Bo Jacobs, who brings the emotions of transience and loss to life through her movements. Her work invites reflection on life and serves as a poignant introduction to the theme. Following her performance, Bo will share her personal insights and engage in conversation with the audience.

After a brief intermission, grief expert Manu Keirse will deliver a lecture that explains grief in an accessible and relatable way. How can we cope with it, and how can we support others? His words offer comfort and new perspectives, whether you have experienced loss yourself or want to support someone who has. This program is designed for anyone who is touched by the themes of loss, grief, and transience in any way.

Andy Warhol: Vanitas

The Andy Warhol: Vanitas exhibition at SCHUNCK showcases over one hundred works by this iconic artist, highlighting themes such as mortality and spirituality in his life and art. Vanitas focuses primarily on the role of religion and transience in Warhol's work.

The Warhol (Grand) Café #3 concludes a series of Warhol Cafés with a larger-scale event that does justice to the significance of the theme and the special contributions of the speaker and dancer. Unlike the intimate setting of the previous café lectures, this (Grand) Café will take place at the Cultuurhuis Heerlen to reflect the impact of this extraordinary program.
