Art connects: participants with dementia showcase their own work at SCHUNCK

On 28 April 2025, SCHUNCK hosted the festive closing presentation of the project Unforgettable Experiences with Art.

During this special project, people with dementia and their loved ones were given the opportunity to experience and create art together. The presentation showcased the works they made following a visit to the exhibition Andy Warhol: Vanitas.

Developed in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Vanitas explores Warhol’s fascination with mortality, spirituality, and astrology. Inspired by Warhol’s vibrant and evocative works, the participants created their own pieces under the guidance of artists and museum educators. The resulting personal artworks were proudly presented in the Glaspaleis.

“You can see people come alive,” said one of the facilitators. “Art invites memory, conversation, and connection. That’s the most beautiful thing you can achieve.”

Unforgettable Experiences with Art is a collaboration between SCHUNCK and Sevagram Verwenzorg. The project aims to enrich the world of people living with dementia and strengthen their bond with loved ones. The final presentation was a colourful conclusion to a journey filled with creativity, encounters, and meaningful moments.
