Program Andy Warhol: Vanitas in and together wíth the city

Traditionally, SCHUNCK organizes a diverse cultural program around the exhibition Andy Warhol: Vanitas. This year, the collaboration with Heerlen is being sought more than ever before.

In the activity program, the art and influence of Andy Warhol come to life through guided tours, interactive art projects, and special activities for families, such as Kloemele with Warhol (Get creative with Warhol). Additionally, there are thematic lectures and film screenings that delve deeper into Warhol's work, life, and the themes of the exhibition.

Activities at SCHUNCK

Twice a month on Sundays, there is a free guided tour, where visitors are shown all the ins and outs of the exhibition by a professional guide. Every second Wednesday of the month, there is a special tour for families. Children can use the Museum Bag with challenging questions and tasks, where they and their companions can ‘kloemel’ (get creative) with Andy Warhol. Visitors can also contribute to an interactive construction site in the central hall.

For those seeking more depth, there will be an extensive program of lectures, workshops, and film screenings. Together with Filmhuis De Spiegel, a film program featuring five carefully selected films related to the exhibition’s themes will be presented. There will be a lecture by writer Sacha Bronwasser, discussing her book 'Luister', in which art plays an important role. And for children, a night-time visit to the museum is planned during 'Camping in the Library', just like at the BoekieWoekie Festival.

Collaborations in the City

On 20 and 21 September, Parkstad Theater Heerlen, in collaboration with SCHUNCK and Cultura Nova, will present Gob Squad’s Kitchen, based on Andy Warhol’s film Kitchen. Later in the year, SCHUNCK, together with Kool Cult, will transform a location in the center of Heerlen into a vibrant creative meeting place: The Factory. This initiative invites young creators, artists, and culture enthusiasts to come together, exchange ideas, and be inspired.

Following a successful pilot last season, SCHUNCK continues the Frictions festival during Andy Warhol: Vanitas, this time inspired by Andy Warhol. The festival consistently offers a surprising and eclectic line-up. In addition, under the motto 'taking Warhol to the neighborhood', SCHUNCK, together with various cultural partners, will organize a series of Warhol Cafés in different neighborhoods of Heerlen. The first Warhol Café is scheduled for November in collaboration with Greylight Projects.

Keep an eye on the event calendar for more information, specific dates, and locations.
