The project reimagines the former Feuerfeste Peters site in Stolberg and transforms it from a neglected industrial area into a lively and sustainable urban quarter. At the heart of the concept is the idea of preserving the historic character while opening the site to new uses that respond to contemporary needs.
The existing buildings form the backbone of the design. Their façades and courtyard structure are retained, not only as architectural heritage but also as identity-giving elements that anchor the project in the history of Stolberg. Inside, the spaces are adapted for new purposes such as housing, co-working, workshops, and cultural uses, giving industrial architecture a second life. The atmosphere of the old halls remains present, but it is reinterpreted through activity and community.

The open spaces connect these uses and create places for encounter and recreation. Paths, trees, and small interventions link the quarter with its natural surroundings and with the adjacent railway station. A former warehouse becomes a flexible venue for events and markets, while a smaller building is converted into a café with terraces by the stream - quiet places that strengthen the relationship between city and landscape.
A carefully placed new building complements the ensemble. Constructed in sustainable timber modular design, it houses hotel rooms that can be flexibly expanded in the future. Together with green roofs, photovoltaic systems, and reduced sealed surfaces, the project emphasizes ecological responsibility while offering high spatial quality.

In this way, the site grows into a lively neighborhood where industry, culture, and landscape meet. The project respects the past while shaping a future-oriented place of living, working, and meeting.
