Hotel at Sandkaul
The four stars Hotel which is located in the centre of Aachen leaves a permanent impression in the monotonous appearance of the street, due to its bright and friendly-coloured facade.
The concept is divided in two main aspects. The situated rooms in the standard floor plan are crucial to create the ring form of the Hotel with its internal airspace, which is equipped with a staircase.
The north-eastern front of the building reflects the protruding edges of the existing house constructions. On the other hand, the south-western front creates a clearly defined edge which is located in the building-line of the north-western neighbouring area. The same occurs at the face of the building, where the city square gets a physical completion.
The facade consists of three main elements: the plinth area, the midsection with the glass front and the crown. It is based on the named classical formal principle but gets a kittenish character by the use of the glass front elements.
The concept of the interior space consists of an airspace which is foraminated by the five floors, which reflects the exterior form of the Hotel.
A staircase passes through the left area of the interior airspace, which is available from all five floors. Moreover a semitransparent lift in the south-eastern part of the interior space is planned for those who do not want to use the staircase. Both the lift and the staircase are two constructions which make the character and the dimension of the Hotel even more suitable for the guest.
The Hotel offers various types of rooms: double rooms, Junior Suites and Suites. Moreover it offers locations like gastronomy, conference halls, wellness area, an Internet pool, a Lounge and underground parking.
