Theme: House of silence (still)

The very accurate description of silence by the writer Ralf Rothmann:

“Silence, the definite base of all our appearances, and by that also of our contour. Silence is not only the absence or the intake of breath of sounds, it is not even silent.

… but to relinquish yourself to silence means to gain width, to gain inner freedom.

… It does not occur often in life and it always happens unexpected and mostly on just usual places in everyday-drive, that suddenly the breath gets caught and you freeze, because you feel addressed by this silence, which is such concentrated, that you believe you are able to touch it; …

In silence the inexpressible articulates itself and this is what you feel on such places and between the pages and beyond common sounds, to which language belongs as well. You feel adjusted by a secret. You feel decoded.”

To keep hold of this moment of silence a place gets created, which is so reserved and natural, that it lets the experiencing person be its center. It makes the experience of this moment be its core.

The place is elected behind a building that is integrated into the wide and flat landscape of the North-Eifel, near to Wachendorf, at Mechernich. Standing like an individual, the Brother-Klaus-Chapel attracts the attention. The viewer enjoys to submerse in its shadow. Only thoughts and feelings are of importance now.

It is created like the inner life of a human being, the architecture of silence shows from the distance, and superficially viewed, a labyrinthic image. While wandering through it, regular openings get encountered, which bring light into the deep. Just descended into the deep, the overview is gained. Over and over again the simple form of a cubus catches ones eye, out of which all the system develops. Reached again to the upper level the chaos conforms to clarity.
