Florence Modave

This is a former Institute of Stomatology in Bauhaus style. This building is symbolic and represents what was the 20th century. So, by its presence, it transmits certain knowledge. Nowadays, the building is abandoned, or largely tagged.
The idea is to give a “new life” to the building, to revalue it and to take advantage of its generous space while keeping and conveying its original spirit of the 20th century.
Another of the main ideas is to improve the image of the area of Outre-Meuse with an architectural intervention.
Its new function combines exposition space and rooms for the Faculty of Architecture. So, the building transmits as well its history through its presence as new knowledge through its function.
The stance is to maintain the building. The idea is to add a second “detached” volume, creating an outdoor space (empty space) between them. That space becomes a space of exchange, encounter, discovery, sharing of knowledge (shooting on the exposition, hall ...).
The space offered by the stomatology is highlighted by some breakthroughs.
The course of the exhibition tour goes through the old and the new volume, offering perspectives (views) of the city.
