REHABILITATION OF THE SUBURBAN ZONE OF ‘VAUX-SOUS-CHEVREMONT’. ISA Saint-Luc Liège (Belgium)
Themes : Density, Revitalisation, Mix and consumption.
The project seeks to rehabilitate the disaffected industrial area situated in the heart of the suburban zone
of ‘Vaux-sous-chèvremont’. The train line caesura recently accentuated by a concrete bridge
construction creates unqualified spaces. The key communication axes, the profitability and speed logic
(initially viewed as a negative element in the landscape and the entity of Vaux) is now integrated and
creates new life spaces.
The train caesura becomes generative, qualifies empty zones and guides the selected options all along
the project. Density, profitability logic, urban dynamics and mix of function are at the heart of the
project.
The programme consists of modular space constructions for offices, public infrastructure, integrated
housing systems and the creation of a new industrial museum along the ‘Vesdre’.
