This dissertation aimed at developing a concept dealing with the subject of Europe. The European Movie is currently starting to rebel against Hollywood and my concept is meant to strenghten and encourage it. The site is located between the former capitol Bonn and Cologne. Additionally it has a great transport connection - internationally by Cologne Airport and nationally by the ICE train station. The chosen location is at the city edge, right next to the River Sieg.

Based on the axes of European Capitols, intersecting in the center, I developed the concept of an artificial landscape that is modeled after the characteristic appearance of the surrounding landscape of the River. Affected by the extremes of narrowness and width, open- and closeness, heights and depths as well as light- and darkness this landscape allows a whole lot of perspectives.
The landscape is meant to be walked, played, and lived in, thus contributing to the visitors experience. Walking on broad an narrow ways and footbridges, plateaus of different slopes and levels can be approached. Those are being supported by two boxes which help with orientation and – since they are firmly positioned in the earth – act like anchors.

The intersection of the axes form the center – the axis become roofs to be walked upon, veins of exploration, or canopied areas.

The Forum is the heart. Built for numerous events, there can be movies, theater, and concerts. The wide LCD-screen guarantees high quality entertainment.

Motto: Delicacies instead of Fast Food! Apart from European productions, there is innovative cinema witch dares to take risks, individual low-budget movies, and exciting special events.

Numerous movies are being shown in the artist’s presence. The intermediate exchange between artist and visitor makes Cinema interactive and shows a whole new access of a classic medium.
