Deseo eventsystem. FH Aachen (Germany)
Design of a system for a mobile disco for the selected location of Ibiza
The basic idea is to develop a mobile event system which provides an ideal setting for a dream and fantasy world, which can furthermore be deployed completely free and independent of location.
Ask somebody what they find fascinating about partying, and the terms freedom, intoxication, fun and carelessness are amongst the most mentioned.
A fundamental human longing is hidden behind these terms: the search for various levels and facets of a person, the wish to experience these often hidden zones, the longing to overcome one’s own inner, as well as social, limitations, perhaps just to be able to forget them for a while – desires and needs, which social conventions and function mechanisms can neither give nor facilitate. The descent into another world, a world which apparently differentiates itself from the normal world, can be space and room for development. The experience of this “other world” is directly linked to a change and expansion of the human perception on all sensory levels. The transformation enables and makes easier departure from the familiar.
By modifying and dissolving the familiar architectural elements of wall, ceiling and space, an inner world emerges with an unfamiliar atmosphere. Through the constant change from positive to negative space, from solidity to transparency, combined with the play of light on the rods and their cast shadows, a unique spacial quality emerges whose immateriality presents an ideal setting for the dream and fantasy worlds of night revellers.
The elements applied here - substructure with plates, rods, containers and membrane roofs - create furthermore a fully flexible system which can be adapted to any environment and situation. It can be built as organic or geometric, hard or soft, sealed or transparent, and large or small.
