The Heerlen Rooftop Project ‘The Green Ribbon’ is designed by BURO LUBBERS & Jonkers Hoveniers & Verkoelen Dak-specialisten.

Connecting Heerlen to nature is most effective when this happens on multiple levels in the city. Since the ground level already serves its purpose, unused roofs are a perfect fit to achieve a significant connection! The Green Ribbon develops the rooftops of Heerlen into a sustainable and accessible landscape with both permanent and temporary interventions. Once a year this strip will be the visible expression of the festival at roofs, facades and the ground level, and emphasises the new level it creates in the city. The Green Ribbon invites people to visit the roofs and explore new (temporary) public space.

”The Green Ribbon celebrates the progress made in the last year toward a symbiosis between modern urban culture and nature.”
Joost van Gorkom
