The result of a long local study of the Fléron area, the Marchais district unifies a site with great potential. The meadows and valleys that make up the site are a green lung for the neighboring population and for their flora and fauna. Major projects have been developed on the site in the past. We note the presence of an imposing residential building that was formerly a sanatorium.

The ambition of our project is to bring new and neighboring residents together, to unify the site with neighboring districts, and to propose a development that will dynamise the municipality of Fléron, while preserving as much as possible the natural environment of this preserved corner of the countryside that is so dear to the inhabitants.

Water and the topology of the site were 2 very important elements taken into account in the design of the project. Cisterns collect rainwater from the buildings’ green roofs. Numerous valleys structure the site. These landscaping elements ensure that water infiltrates well into the ground, and contribute greatly to the biodiversity of the local environment.

To achieve this, we’re proposing a neighborhood composed of 3 different types of housing to ensure a fair social mix. There will be detached houses for families, alongside more densely-packed blocks of apartments, some with individual apartments, others with collectives apartments.

In addition, to reinforce the neighborhood’s identity and liven it up, a central square has been created around a new building, housing the small museum of Fléron’s history, as well as a bar-restaurant.

We opted for a dense habitat that would allow us to propose the creation of a 7-hectare market garden. This market garden, open to all, will respect the agricultural environment while satisfying the food needs of some of Fléron’s residents
