LIEGE –Bavière site

Vision of Liège – NETWORK

Automobile problematic is real : the city is not adapted for absorbing such flows. Public transportation projects are the sole solution to reinforce urban center’s accessibility. Therefore they ought to be conceived through a global approach. Network notion takes up a more and more significant part of urban building and planning.

Bavière site - INTERFACE

We attempted to imprint on the project an identity which would be in synergy with other places in Liège. These making the city more palpable for a pedestrian facing a scale that overtakes him.

By this way the site is considered like an interface, a multimodal node where you give up your car to catch a bus, a tramway, a bike… or simply to walk.

Infrastructures – FLOWS TERRITORY

A 700 places handover car park is jointed to the multimodal pole. A community arts centre (library, reading places, lecture rooms, …) and a multifunctional centre (sports events, exhibitions, …) assert themselves in distinctive ways and feed a vast public space.

The idea is to use the equipments arousing a human density. So many energies gathered in the same place give an stronger, plentiful and continuous identity.

PLACES OF INTENSITIES

The hybrid places of the site are thus linked by an unifying thread : the public space. The idea is to cover the tracks. Our work was an attempt to make up emptiness managing the flows (automobiles, bicycles, pedestrians and public transportation) by mixing or diluting them.

The site underligns movement (intensity), textures and variations of densities : it gives a shape to emptiness. The surface is treated continuously , without breaking . Playing with the areas borders give them a status .
