The artworks you see in this part of the Art Depot have been chosen by us: Driver’s Seat. We are the youth group of SCHUNCK Museum. We are all between 16 and 23 years old and have a great interest in art and the world around it.

Inspired by Lobke

Every two weeks, we meet, and what you are about to see is our latest project: setting up our mini-exhibition in one of the rooms of the Art Depot. Our mini-exhibition is titled What Living Does to a Motherfucker. Unsubtly inspired by the work What living in Bekkerveld does to a Motherfucker by Heerlen-based artist Lobke Cornelissen de Beer (2000). Her work is displayed right at the front.

In every artwork displayed here, we see a story about life. We see different characters passing by and wonder: what is their story? Where do they come from, and what does their life look like? This sparks our imagination; the stories and conversations naturally unfold. The stories we see in artworks are ones we’d like to share with you. That’s why we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to create a four-part podcast series. More details coming soon!

Greetings from Driver’s Seat: Remy, Joep, Phaedra, Eefje, Ewout, Fleur, Jodie, and Mare

About the Art Depot

The Art Depot not only provides more space for the art collection but also ensures the collection's structural accessibility to the public. The collection is displayed in rotating thematic presentations in an interactive way.

The Art Depot consists of three different rooms, each featuring a different exhibition. Two spaces always together form a thematic exhibition that changes every six months. The third room is reserved for an exhibition curated by a guest. This time, that guest is Driver’s Seat.
