Preserving heritage, including the stories hidden within it, is an increasingly important issue today. There is still a lot of heritage to be found in Limburg, but there are also plenty of heritage sites that are vacant, neglected, or whose original character has largely been lost. Architecture provides the tools to preserve and retell these stories, so that they are not lost and future generations know where their history lies.
Twan Hermans received an honorable mention at the 2021 Euregional Architecture Prize. In his exhibition at SCHUNCK, he shows some of the projects he has worked on over the past six years, both at Architecten aan de Maas and at the Academy of Architecture in Maastricht. Consider heritage from the Roman period, the Middle Ages and the mining era. Some of these projects are currently in progress, others are inspiring studies, or perhaps just Dreaming out Loud.
Dreaming Out Loud
Dreaming Out Loud spotlights young architects and visual artists from Limburg and the Euregion. Two or three times a year, a student or graduate talent alternately from the discipline of Architecture or Fine Arts from the Euregion is invited to put together a cabinet presentation and present themselves to the public.
