Charlotte Dahmen and Marlene Kossmann win 34th EAP

On 16 November 2024, the 34th Euregional Architecture Prize (EAP) ceremony took place in Aachen. This prestigious award, organized by SCHUNCK in Heerlen, annually honors the best graduation projects from architecture faculties in Aachen, Hasselt, Liège, and Maastricht. The first prize (€ 2,500) was awarded to Charlotte Dahmen and Marlene Kossmann (RWTH Aachen) for their project Wo Wir Alt Werden.

Winners of the Euregional Architecture Prize 2024

First Prize: Wo Wir Alt Werden  

The winning project by Charlotte Dahmen and Marlene Kossmann explores the question: where do we grow old? The jury praised their in-depth research and innovative designs, featuring small yet impactful interventions in urban typologies. The project combines sustainability, social impact, and urban planning, demonstrating how architecture can offer future-proof solutions.  

Second Prize: Material Fabrik Köln Kalk  

The second prize (€ 1,250) was awarded to Luka Hauschild (FH Aachen) for Material Fabrik Köln Kalk. This project transforms an old industrial building with a focus on reuse and circularity. The result is a multifunctional space that preserves nearly all original elements.  

Third Prize: Du bist keine Schönheit?  

The third prize (€ 500) went to Lennard Flörke (RWTH Aachen) for Du bist keine Schönheit?. This project combines careful renovation with new functions, including a school, library, and apartments, redefining architectural beauty in the process.  

Honorable Mentions  

Honorable mentions were awarded to:

  • Emma van den Berg (The Family Vacation Home)
  • Anna-Lisa Custers (Domus Memoria)
  • Linus Hermann (Trassen)

Visit the EAP Exhibition in Aachen

From 18 November to 12 December 2024, the winning projects and 30 other nominated graduation projects will be on display at the free EAP exhibition.
