In 1991, the second prize of the Euregional Prize for Architecture (EAP) was awarded to Michael Lamprecht, RWTH Aachen, for his project Neanderthalmuseum.
From the jury report:
The way in which a phase in the development history of mankind at the site of archaeological finds in the area between the Meuse and Rhine, has been made accessible and equally concluded with a contemporary architectural element (...) has been highly appreciated by the jury.
