Eight edition David Bade draws down Heerlen
With the support of the VriendenLoterij, as part of the project, SCHUNCK has been organising a series of special group sessions and portraits together with Bade.
Since the autumn of 2020, Bade has been immersing himself in the world of six special groups and clubs in Heerlen. For example, he trained with football club RKSV Groene Ster and he has carried out work in collaboration with the mental health care organisation Mondriaan. The project kicked off however, with the ladies of Pink Peril Roller Derby in November 2020. In May 2021, Bade once again started engaging with other interesting groups in Heerlen, this time with the dancers from the HFC dance studio. He also opened a studio in a public space so that local citizens could drop in and see him at work.
This resulted in special encounters, moves and stories. And, of course, a larger-than-life work by David Bade that has been added to Heerlen’s municipal art collection. Bade’s public studio and his work were put on display in the foyer of the SCHUNCK Glaspaleis in the summer of 2021.
HFC Crew
HFC (Heerlen F*cking City) crew is a breakdance crew from Heerlen. They travel far and wide to take part in dance competitions.
“It’s really cool we can work on a project like this with David and give communities in Heerlen a better profile. We also hope that he appreciates our antics and stunts too, haha,” explains Jop Vermeesch of HFC

David Bade draws down Heerlen
David Bade and SCHUNCK have a lifelong collaboration. This means that Bade, throughout his lifetime, will return on a regular basis to Heerlen to draw a diversity of residents, in a diversity of settings and surroundings. These works are then added to the municipal collection which is managed by SCHUNCK. In this way, an archive of visual art will evolve which records Heerlen's DNA.
