First edition David Bade draws down Heerlen

The first edition of David Bade draws down Heerlen took place in 2013. Bade held conversations with over 25 of Heerlen residents, each of whom he captured in a personal portrait.

Promenade Heerlen

Elaborating on themes of earlier projects commissioned by the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Liverpool Biennial, artist David Bade - as part of Heerlen’s Cultura Nova 2013 - took up residence in vacant premises in the centre of town for several weeks, entering into a dialogue with the city’s inhabitants. This resulted in works which were exhibited in the premises where they were created. All portraits were later added to the SCHUNCK collection. The works that Bade creates will eventually form an ever-expanding archive of images and anecdotes recording Heerlen’s dna.
