About Passaasj Parkstad
SCHUNCK invited residents of Heerlen, Parkstad and Limburg to submit their work. The registration is now closed. The works will be on display during the exhibition Passaasj Parkstad at SCHUNCK Museum from 21 April to 17 May 2026.
40 years of museum
In 2026, it will be forty years since SCHUNCK Museum (formerly the City Gallery), the museum for modern and contemporary art in Heerlen, opened its doors to the public. To celebrate this anniversary, SCHUNCK Museum presents Passaasj Parkstad from 21 April to 17 May 2026: an exhibition in which professional and non-professional artists, young makers, designers, self-taught creatives and hidden talents are shown side by side.
Open call to everyone who feels like or identifies as an artist or designer
With Passaasj Parkstad, SCHUNCK offers a stage to the rich and diverse creative power of the region. For four decades, Heerlen has been home to the museum as well as to countless artists from Heerlen, Parkstad and Limburg. To emphasise this connection, the theme of the exhibition is ‘home’. Everyone who feels like or identifies as an artist or designer is invited to visualise a personal interpretation of this theme and submit work: What does home mean to you? Where do you return to? And what makes a place feel like home to you?
Participate or visit
From 20 January to 20 February 2026, artists and designers from Heerlen, Parkstad and Limburg were invited to submit one artwork related to the theme ‘home’. From all submissions, an independent committee will select a maximum of 100 works, which will be exhibited in the museum gallery of the iconic Glaspaleis from 21 April to 17 May 2026.
Please note: the registration is closed.
