In 2022, SCHUNCK acquired an ensemble of twelve drawings by Keetje Mans, four of which are on display here. A few years earlier, the textile piece Tantrum (2017) was purchased, and in 2009, the paintings Desert Sessions and Two Lone Swordsmen were acquired. Recently, the painting Span (2011) was donated to the SCHUNCK collection by dsm-firmenich.

Keetje Mans' paintings, drawings, textile works, and objects evoke a world where the everyday merges with the fantastic. Her work embodies a tension between freedom and security, between wandering and returning home. Mans' narrative, otherworldly scenes balance on the edge of dreams, fear, fantasy, and memory. What she creates is a dream world or a 'liminal space', where a disorienting and boundless feeling prevails.

This presentation in Art Depot 2 (the central space) complements the current exhibition Ride the Range (and Never Worry) in Your Humble Abode by Keetje Mans, which can be seen in the Atrium from May 20th. In the Atrium, Mans showcases her first three-dimensional works, created especially for this space.

About the Art Depot

The Art Depot features three distinct spaces with racks, each hosting a different exhibition. These are regularly rearranged, so visitors to the Glaspaleis can experience a variety of works on display. As a visitor, you determine the order of the racks in each space, which automatically shift to the desired combination with the press of a button.
