Driver's Seat 2019-2020
Driver's Seat delved into SCHUNCK Museum's 'DepARTment store' exhibition. This exhibition went back into the history of the Glaspaleis, and was combined with modern art from Heerlen's municipal art collection. The members of Driver's Seat became part of the exhibition and the programme around it.

In the run-up to '100 years of Aad de Haas', the youngsters of Driver's Seat set to work to put together their own exhibition, 'Omarm me' (Embrace me), with works by Aad de Haas. SCHUNCK made the Aad de Haas room and the works of Aad de Haas from SCHUNCK's own art collection available for this purpose. Of course, the youngsters were guided by the organisation, but within the outlined framework, they were completely free to organise the exhibition; the theme, the works on display, structure, appearance, communication. A great challenge!
We were well on our way, but then came corona... The opening of the 'Embrace Me' exhibition was postponed and delayed.
But Driver's Seat wouldn't be Driver's Seat if they didn't put a creative spin on this situation too. After all, Aad de Haas' works could not be physically viewed at the museum during corona time. Therefore, the youngsters described some of the selected works in an audio clip. This way, everyone could experience Aad de Haas from the comfort of their own living room. With a twist from Driver's Seat.
