Programme Ina van Zyl: Where Are You From

From 16 June, immerse yourself in the world of Where Are You From. Like the exhibition itself, the accompanying programme centres on themes such as the human body, stillness, and the boundary between beauty and discomfort.

Slow Down

Looking for a moment of calm or a reset? The museum offers several ways to slow down and focus on the present. During a yoga session or a mindfulness tour, you can let go of tension and notice details you might otherwise overlook. The museum’s Day of Silence also provides space to pause and reflect, take your time, daydream, and wander quietly through the exhibition in your socks.

Prefer to lose yourself in a good book? During the Silent Reading Party, the museum opens its doors for a few hours of uninterrupted reading in silence.

Explore Further

Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition? During the Sunday guided tours, you will take a closer look at details you might otherwise miss and discover stories and insights that add further meaning to Ina van Zyl’s work.

Where Are You From also serves as the starting point for a range of in-depth activities, including an open-air screening of The Lobster during Cultura Nova, organised in collaboration with the festival and Filmhuis De Spiegel, the thirteenth edition of Frictions Festival, and a new edition of HUNK, the magazine produced by Het Belangrijke Genootschap Met Een Nog Onduidelijke en Steeds Wisselende Maar Immer Literaire Inhoud.

Beat the Boredom

There is plenty to discover for children and the adults who accompany them. During the Museum Tour for (Almost) All Ages (6+), you will explore Ina van Zyl’s paintings together and discover how ordinary things can suddenly become extraordinary.

In the workshop 'Become friends with a tree' (6+), artist Gladys Zeevaarders invites participants to look differently at trees, shapes and textures, inspired by her display window presentation Mein Freund, der Baum.

Children can also visit the Boredom Desk (7+), a place where nothing is required and boredom can become the starting point for imagination and new ideas. To make a museum visit even more enjoyable, children will be able to collect a museum bag from the attendant from the end of July, filled with activities that turn the museum into their own journey of discovery.

The programme will continue to develop throughout the exhibition period. Keep an eye on the website for updates.
